video clip 1. brief analysis
This music video to the Alicia keys song unthinkable is based on segregation, its is shown and represented through the use of two different races male being white and female being black. The love prejudice it shown through different time lapses from around the 50's until now, you can see the times they are trying to act out through the subtle yet effective use of mise-en-scene e.g their clothing and the way there society is. Its trying to put across that prejudices are stil around in society today.
The clip stars Chad Michael Murray a famous American actor who is rated top 20 'sexiest men' in many female magazines. I think the producers used him so the video would get a wider range of female audience. The woman who stars in it is Alicia keys herself a beautiful talented wome who has thousands of fans worldwide, this is another way she may use to get a wider viewing audience because people like seeing her perform instead of using anoter actor instead.
There are a lot of close ups used to show the amount of emotion between them, and creates a sense of realism as well as the non-diagetic and diagetic sounds that are used. The panning shots create a sense of urgency, and there is a sense if urgency in their relationship and how they want to do something about it as soon as they can.
