I think the producers used him so the video would get a wider range of female audience. The woman who stars in it is Alicia keys herself a beautiful talented wome who has thousands of fans worldwide, this is another way she may use to get a wider viewing audience because people like seeing her perform instead of using anoter actor instead.

There are a lot of close ups used to show the amount of emotion between them, and creates a sense of realism as well as the non-diagetic and diagetic sounds that are used.
